In Indonesia, in the sea off North Sulawesi Province, a fisherman caught a rare ancient fish, the coelacanth, once thought to be extinct during the time of the dinosaurs.
First seen in 1938 and again in 1998, their habitat is about 60 metres or 200 ft below the sea.
Coelacanths are the only living animal to have a fully functioning intercranial joint. Which means their ear and brain are separate from the nasal and eyes.
